Albion Online Tank Build - Check our variants on Albion Tank Build
Albion Online

Albion Online comes from the MMORPG genre and is a pure example of how those game should look like. Sandbox Interactive was responsible for the development and publicity of this title. The official premiere game had on July 17, 2017, and since the game was never free to play. To play Albion Online you have to buy "Starter Pack", which allows you to enter the game permanently. I recommend you this title because of its pleasurable gameplay and various paths of development, not only strictly connected to your character. Today we will talk about the build for Tank, his strong and weak sides and what you should focus on while playing this role.

Table of Content:

  • Role of the Tank
  • What you should focus on?
  • Example build
  • Weapon
  • Additional items
  • Skills

Role of the Tank

Usually, the role of the Tank is similar in most fo MMORPG titles.  Albion Online differs a little bit because of few factors. Firstly, because of the fact that aggro on boss fights is random, there is no need for building yourself fully defensive. In my opinion, the strongest weapons of Tank should be good CC and the ability to cover your team, but the main role is a little bit different. The main role of a tank is an ability to split another team, distract it, make an enemy healer useless.

What you should focus on?

As a tank, you should focus on the enemy team, that may sound strange but it's true. Keep track of actions that enemies do, distract healer, avoid damage, use your CC. Don't only think about taking aggro on yourself and pick as much damage as you can because it's not enough. While preparing a build for you Tank character be aware of the skills that you pick, they do the biggest difference and very often, they decide about your last decision on equipment (more about it later).

  • Head - Tier 4, Adept's Guardian Helmet.
  • Main Hand - Tier 4, Adept's Clarent Blade.
  • Off Hand - Tier 4, Adept's Sarcophagus.
  • Armor - Tier 4, Adept's Guardian Armor.
  • Shoes - Tier 4, Adept's Guardian Boots.

Two-handed Mace.

  • Head - Tier 7 - Grandmaster's Guardian Helmet.
  • Main Hand - Tier 7 - Grandmaster's Morning Star.
  • Armor - Tier 7 - Grandmaster's Knight Armor.
  • Shoes - Tier 7 - Grandmaster's Mage Sandals.

Weapon

Now we will talk about weapons and shields. Firstly, there is a choice between a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weaponry with a shield. In my opinion, you should pick the first option for a few reasons. Shields on a beginning/ low tiers give you percentage bonuses, what is not good especially at the start when the statistics are relatively low. Bosses also target players randomly so there is no need for focusing on taking aggro only. What's more, the two-handed weapon can deal a good amount of damage what's a fair price for weaker defensive stance. Nowadays shields are too weak and even on high tiers, they are very rare, in my opinion, the mace with higher damage instead of set-up with a one-handed weapon is a better choice.

Additional items

Now let's take on closer look consumables like food and potions. Here I would pick more defensive items type for food and as well potions. For food, I suggest something that increases your maximum health like for example Goat Sandwich. Potions also strictly affecting your health, I would pick Healing Potion that increases regeneration of your HP in a set amount of time.

Skills

Here are some examples of skills that should guide you to the ones you choose in the game.

Two-handed Mace

Defensive Slam - Deals Physical damage and increases magic resist and armor of your allies.

Air compressor - Pulls all enemies in range of 7 meters to you.

Root prison - Snares enemies on 1.5 second.

Wind Wall - Knock all enemies hit by this the wind.

Stone Skin - Reduces incoming damage, however, decreases the power of healing abilities and damage.

Delayed teleport - in 1s teleports you in the desired place.

One-handed with shield

Heroic Cleave - Attack the enemy and deals damage also to nearby targets.

Iron Will - Reduces incoming damage and significantly improves your moving speed.

Mighty Swing - Typical AoE, deals damage to all nearby enemies.

Enfeeble Aura - Creates aura in which area enemies will do less damage and have decreased amount of moving speed. Aura also makes invisible targets visible.

Stone Skin - Reduces incoming damage, however, decreases the power of healing abilities and damage.
